Teety Tezano, born Nanfack Ndengue Tezano Martine on 18 February 1989 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, hails from a musical family - her father, Johnny Tezano, is a celebrated Cameroonian musician. From an early age, Teety was immersed in music, singing in choirs and developing a passion that would shape her career.
She began professionally in 2006 as the lead singer of the female group Kit Kat Girls, releasing tracks like Super Girl and earning recognition, including the “Best Discovery” award at the 2008 Couleurs Urbaines festival. Driven to carve her own path, Teety embarked on a solo journey around 2010, embracing her distinctive sound.
Her music is a vibrant fusion of Afro-pop, Afro-fusion, soul, jazz, highlife, and reggae, blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary global influences. She sings in English, Pidgin, and Yemba, infusing her songs with both authenticity and universal appeal. Known for her crystalline, soulful vocals, Teety’s music often explores themes of love, empowerment, and social consciousness.
Teety has collaborated with notable artists such as Baba Maal (Senegal) and Joss Stone (UK), showcasing her versatility and international reach. She has performed at prestigious festivals, including VISA FOR MUSIC (Morocco), MASA Festival (Côte d’Ivoire), and Lausanne Afro Fusion Festival (Switzerland), captivating audiences with her energetic yet emotive stage presence.
Among her solo releases are So in Love (2015), Swagga (2017), Moni Money (2018), Matter (2022), Kwassa Kwassa (2024), and Bami (2024). Moni Money, for instance, is an Afro-pop anthem that combines infectious beats with a message about love and greed, highlighting Teety’s talent for fusing social commentary with danceable music.
Beyond her artistry, Teety is socially engaged, founding La Main d’Elisabeth, an initiative supporting women and vulnerable communities. Her influence lies in her authentic voice, musical versatility, and the ability to bridge African heritage with modern global sounds.
